Welcome back to A Chat with…, our blog series where we grab a drink and get to know the talented people building the future of investment management technology at Bipsync.
Today, we’re chatting with Daryl, one of our Quality Assurance (QA) Engineers, about her journey from Cardiff University to Bipsync, how she’s helping test our AI platform, and her surprising hobby outside of tech.
What’s your role and how did you land at Bipsync?
Daryl first crossed paths with Bipsync through Heather, People Experience Manager, at Cardiff University careers events while studying Computer Science. Having heard great things about the company, Daryl kept Bipsync on her radar while completing a placement year elsewhere. When she was ready for a new challenge after graduation, she messaged Heather on LinkedIn to ask about QA opportunities. As luck would have it, Bipsync had an opening—she applied immediately, and the rest is history.
What’s one thing you’re proud of having worked on here?
Daryl currently focuses her time on testing Bipsync’s AI Research Assistant, Toro. Spotting an opportunity to improve testing confidence across the team, she took the initiative to build a custom tool that scrapes data from the test environment and automatically suggests prompts based on active development tickets. The tool was an instant hit with both the developers and the product team, making testing significantly smoother with prompts tailored directly to updated features.
What do you like most about the Bipsync team?
For Daryl, the best part of working at Bipsync comes down to the culture and the people. She loves being in an environment where asking questions is welcomed and colleagues are always ready to help out. She recently paired up with one of the developers to test a tricky feature, turning a complex piece of work into a great team-bonding experience. The culture of open, constructive feedback has also given her clear avenues to keep growing her skills.
Tell us about a hobby you’re into outside of work.
Outside of work, Daryl is an avid pickleball player. Introduced to the sport at her local leisure centre, she now plays in weekly ladder sessions with the Cardiff Pickleball Club—and recently took home the trophy as the Platinum Tier doubles champion at a club tournament! When she’s not on the court, she has a massive soft spot for anything duck-related, which inevitably finds its way onto her desk.
