The Bipsync Research Management System RMS is now on release 134. A highlight of this release is a new feature which allows clients to run custom reports on demand, but there are several other notable improvements.
Custom Reports
Bipsync’s strength lies in its flexibility: with extensive configuration support from our organization system through to process management, it can be adapted to suit – and accelerate – any workflow.
In this release we’ve taken that approach a step further by supporting custom reports that are designed to a client’s needs. These reports can be run any time they’re required, and can be output either as Excel spreadsheet (.xls) files, or comma-separated (.csv) files.
Once a report has been registered with the system, it can be accessed from the top-left menu, through the ‘Reports…’ option. That will present the following dialog:
A custom report is chosen from the list on the left. Depending on the report, some fields may need to be completed. In the example above, we provide a ticker, a date, and an output format – from this Bipsync will export a spreadsheet that lists all notes that were generated from the given date that were tagged with the ticker “AAPL US”.
Because the custom reports make use of Bipsync’s comprehensive API, we’re able to include a wide variety of data types in the export, and offer a wide range of criteria to make each report configurable.
A client who recently converted a manually generated report to a Bipsync custom report reported a time saving of 80%. We anticipate that many of our other clients would see similar benefits by taking advantage of this feature, so if you’d like to learn more, please let us know.
Improved Archiving
Our archiver tool has now successfully delivered thousands of backups of client data, and in this release we’ve improved its architecture to make it even more robust.
Some of the features of this improved implementation are:
- The ability to deliver backups via SFTP, rsync, or to a Amazon S3 bucket.
- The ability to export any data type that is exposed through a Bipsync API endpoint.
- The ability to schedule backups with a wide variety of options, e.g. “9AM each Monday”, “week end”, “quarter end”, etc.
If you’re not already taking advantage of our custom backup solution and would like to, please ask.
Other Fixes and Improvements
- Further conditional styling improvements to dashboard grid widgets.
- Desktop app: Office add-in buttons will now be disabled if they’re unable to function.
- Desktop app: Fixed an issue when clipping files to new tags.
As usual, please get in touch with any questions about this Bipsync Research Management System RMS release, or if you have any feedback or suggestions about the Bipsync platform.
