As a new challenge for 2022, teams on both sides of the Atlantic are pledging to walk 8 million steps between them – the approximate distance between our offices in New York and Cardiff, Wales – with the goal of “meeting” in the middle.
The global pandemic has enforced a physical divide between our co-workers but it hasn’t broken our community spirit. Daily walks improve our health and wellbeing, giving us opportunity to learn more about the places where each of us live and to share our interests. They’ve even incited some healthy competition!
Taking part in the trek is open to all our Bipsync family regardless of their location, meaning we all get to travel (well, kind of) without leaving home through the beautiful photos we share. We’re keeping track of every step and despite only being in our first week, we’re already past the 400,000 step milestone – only 7 and a half million to go!
Best of all, this challenge gives us a great opportunity to support some really worthwhile causes. The UK team continue to raise money for the Trussell Trust, while the US team are donating to Save The Children, who provide unique care and attention to children, focussing on their specific needs.
Save The Children support children in over a hundred countries around the world in times of crisis, providing healthcare assistance, education, protection and emergency response through practical help, policy change and advocacy. Their work changes lives. Since its inception, Save the Children have aided over 1 billion children. In 2020 alone they donated over 20 million meals in the USA, and have delivered programmes in over 100 communities to prepare vulnerable children for pre-school by teaching them to read. With the pandemic causing a crisis worldwide, they need your support more than ever.
If you’d like to support our fundraising efforts, head to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/8millionsteps to donate to The Trussell Trust via Team UK or https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/8millionsteps-us to show your support to Team USA and Save The Children. We thank you for all donations, no matter how small.
