Release 216 of the Bipsync Research Management System (RMS) is now available. This release improves the way that Bipsync sends email from the system, adds a few other smaller features, and addresses a number of other bugs.

Configurable Email Senders

The reliable sending of email is notoriously difficult, which is why we’ve always used reputable services like Sendgrid to handle the task for us. Recently it came to our attention that some of our clients’ incoming mail servers had issues with our chosen delivery service, so in this release we’ve improved Bipsync’s mail sending functionality so the method can be configured on a per-client basis. This allows us to choose between several delivery services that are available to us. We’re able to select a service that’s appropriate for each client, or change the service quickly if an issue arises.

The upshot of this is that our clients can be assured that email sent from Bipsync will continue to be delivered quickly and reliably, no matter its destination.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • The Bipsync API now allows files identified by an external ID to be updated as well as created.
  • A new Rule action allows a notification to be sent to a user identified by a given lookup field.
  • The note editor now supports the CTRL-Shift-V keyboard shortcut to paste as plain text, without any original formatting.
  • Users with the read-only role are no longer able to upload attachments to comments.
  • The behaviour of fixed-data lookup fields is more consistent, with values now populating immediately after values are set on the fields they depend on.
  • Expanded support for the styling of emails that were formatted in Outlook and forwarded into Bipsync.
  • Fixed an issue with checklist fields which could sometimes prevent the checklist options from appearing.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the wrong checklist field to be checked when it had been duplicated from another field and its label was clicked.
  • Fixed an issue which caused tags to be applied incorrectly when uploading several files in sequence.
  • Fixed an issue which could prevent rules to not be checked.
  • Fixed an issue with the Solovis integration which prevented fields from being configured to be associated with Solovis property definitions.
